HANDMADE IN A DIGITAL WORLD
I'm Christine, born in 1977, living and working in my studio in beautiful Lübeck, and since 2011, I've been the creative mind behind Gudbling.
I create handmade jewelry from brass and silver for you. My focus is particularly on geometric shapes - a legacy from my time as a graphic designer - and gemstones, which I especially love for their multitude of colors and their unique play of colors.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
The Gudbling story doesn't actually begin with jewelry, but with paper goods. In 2010, after graduating and taking a few detours, I moved to Berlin to set up my own business as a graphic designer and sell paper goods online and at local markets.
As fate would have it, handmade necklaces occasionally crept into my offerings and quickly sold better than anything else.
After a short time with two brands, Gudbling quickly emerged as my favorite playground.
However, my roots as a graphic designer still determine my design process today. Geometric shapes and harmonious color compositions are the foundation of my jewelry pieces.
SCANDI MEETS BOHO
In the more than 15 years that Gudbling has existed, the jewelry has not always looked as it does today.
It all started with remnants that I salvaged from fashion production facilities of designer friends. Completely embracing the Boho trend of the 2010s, I crocheted and braided, and it couldn't be colorful or striking enough.
But times and trends change - as a one-woman business, I'm lucky enough to be able to change my materials and designs at any time. In recent years, it has shifted from Boho more towards Scandi. My signature, however, remains the same, and I am grateful that my customers are on this journey with me.
ONE-WOMAN BUSINESS
Over the years, I've tried many platforms and spaces.
There were various markets, pop-ups, shop collaborations, and shopping clubs. I also ran two stores with a friend in Berlin for a while and thoroughly enjoyed that time.
In 2023, however, the longing for the Baltic Sea caught me again, and I moved back to my old home in Schleswig-Holstein, where I am currently focusing on my favorite home for Gudbling – the digital world.
Selling online gives me, as a one-woman business, the greatest possible freedom to manage my daily work and creativity, and I can be there for you, wherever you are.
